Looking for a good combat folder which can be extracted quickly from the pocket, easy blade ejection with the "just right" thumb stud, a blade no longer than 3 inches, and any other features that you experts suggest. Tell me your preference folks. Thanks..

Have you tried any of the Kershaw SpeedSafes? Another might be the Emerson mini CQC folders.

Sounds like you want an Emerson folder with a wave. You can take a look at the offerings from Spyderco also. What exactly do you want the knife for...We maybe able to answer your question better.

It's not often that it's so easy to find a knife that EXACTLY fits what someone is looking for, but let me suggest the Emerson Mini-CQC-7B.
thumb disk opening
blade length 2.90 inches.
I don't think this model is now or ever will be made with the wave feature as it was built especially for use/carry in areas with more restrictive knife laws.

check here for more details;

Let me ask, why do you want a Combat folder? Are you planning to go into combat? If you want a good quick opening folder that will provided good self-defense, then say so. This will aid us to help us help you. If you're looking for a smaller tactical, I would wholeheartedly recommend the MOD Ladyhawk; The thumbstud is positioned for a very fast open. The MOD trident is 3.5", but is very light and slim. There is also the Benchmade Mini-Stryker, which is an excellent liner-lock.

Although it's just a little bit longer than your 3 inch limit (3.2 inches), the REKAT Pioneer II would be a good choice, as there are 4 blade-styles to choose from, and these folders are very tough.

I wouldn't rule out a Camillus EDC. I'm quite impressed with the one I got from Darrel.

Emerson mini CQC-7, One of the Mini Benchmades, various Spyderco's. Pat Crawford makes some great small knives. If you can wait a little while Darrel Ralph will be doing a handmade small EDC. Similar to the Camillus, only with his personal touch and custom options.

What you're looking for is out there. Some more specifics and we can get you where you want to go.

A combat folder means a folder that will not fail under combat situation - the main problem with a folder in combat is how much stress it can hold before folding over and cutting your friendly fingers.

In this category there is currently only one knife I trust my fingers with and it is the Spyderco Gunting.

On top of all it's other features - it is currently the folder with the HIGHEST resistance to lock failure- bar none.

Ask Sal of the Spyderco forum why - and he'll explain...

BTW- welcome to the BF

Thought I'd cover the low end price-wise.

Don't know the blade measurements of the smaller CRKT M16s. If you get one with the flipper, you can forget about thumbstuds altogether. Flipper is much quicker. They're one of the better knife values out there, IMO.

The larger CRKT LUS has a 3" blade, opens very easily and smoothly. A very good value also, and it isn't black.

I'm extremely impressed with teh Spyderco Native. I think it one of the most versatile knives out there. It isn't designed for combat, but should prove adequate at it, if necessary.

Except for the thumbstud -- too small for unknown reasons -- the CRKT Apache 2 would be ideal. I think it is one of the better stabbing combat knives out there, with enough belly to do some slashing as well. Is is on sale for extremely low price at Smoky Mountain Knife Works right now. $20. It has aluminum handles and ATS34 steel.

Last, but by no means least, the smaller CRKT KFF has a 3" blade, I believe. The knife is designed for combat, pure and simple.
