Hello,

After reading your suggestions, these are the main mods I made on the combat hawk:

Curved handle
Longer handle
More discrete screws and bolts
"extra grip" option at the end of the handle

Here's a preview of the (unfinished) hawk:

All the different handle butts can easily be interchanged.

Thanks for watching

The space you left between the head and the elbow of the handle is perfect. In a CQC situation choking up on the handle is going to be your best option. The blade orientation you left on the head is very well done.

Does handle option you put on the pommel are incredibly clever. What is the weight on that axe?

Thanks Ed!
Probably new pommels will be designed, and I still have to finish the straight, full metal / pry handle version.

The weight of the hawk as you see it now is a bit below 450g, but I still have to grind the the edges and smooth the handle.

Very nice looking work....Good ideas...Just a little to much bend in the handle for me !

Do you prefer the straight version?

I thought the straight handled version was better. It just seemed more utilitarian. I think the bend would make it awkward to use, as it throws off the point and edge angles that people are instinctively used to.

It does look awkward until you hold it, then it feels natural, and the clearance created gives you some advantages.
In any case, the straight G10 version is going to be made as well, together with the full metal pry version.

Deadly and multi-functional. Exactly the kind of stuff I drool over!! Looking good so far and so much potential.

Particularly like the crusher/blunt combo. I tend to jab often with the butt end of my hawks which are only light wood. The blunt or better yet the tip of that crusher would surely cause more damage!

Can't judge the angle by just seeing it. What is the angle and what are the dimensions?

Thanks Nickosnow & Type00rev!

I just finished today the curved handles as well as the straight-metal-pry and the straight G10 versions. I hope to post some pictures later this evening for all of you.

FYI....

tohubohu, seeing as you have elected to NOT receive PM (which I suggest against when a mod needs to contact you) I must advise you that as a maker you need to upgrade your membership level to Knifemaker/Craftsman/Service Provider. If you choose not to do so then you MUST remove your homepage link in your profile and refrain from any sort of selling or advertising on BFC.

Yeah and on that note if a mod happens to pm you with a warning or if you're unclear about on of the rules, just reply to or send a mod a msg. But you must upgrade in order to even pm a mod. Not to hijack the thread or anything.

Message received. I apologize.
(What does mod & msg mean? sorrybut english isn't my mother tongue)
I've tried to upgade a couple of times, but wasn't clear enough for me, as for "non US members" is different.
Maybe you can help me in order to do it properly.

and thanks for letting me know I was doing something "wrong" without realizing.

Interesting hawk. Just a question though. With the down swept spike, is there a chance a chance of impaling your wrist if gripping below the head?
