Combat karambit tip rubbing liners upon closing, but centered when closed?

im having a strange issue ive never seen with any knife before. This is my first emerson so maybe im doing it wrong, but...

Ive adjusted the pivot so that the blade sits perfectly centered ( the knife still has blade play at this point...)

When i close the knife, the tip of the blade scrapes against the left liner, but then once the detent locks the knife into the handle, the blade goes center.

is this normal..?

also, is it possible to get my knife centered and not have side to side play? the blade play is pretty bad when its centered, if i crank the pivot down just enough to get rid of the bladeplay, the blade sits almost flush with the left liner. Love the knife but for almost 300$, im getting kind of irritated that I cant even get the blade centered without issues.

thanks emerson veterans.

Well the only thing I can think is, it is a chisel ground blade right? At least I think the karambits are.. So naturally it should sit closer to the left liner, looks off center but it's just because of the grind. Other than that I'm not sure but im sure you could either search up some threads on centering emersons, or if it bothers you enough you can send it to Emerson and I know they'll make it right.

Judging from what you are saying, the knife is adjusted with a loose pivot. There shouldn't be any play regardless of how it feels with a linerlock style knife as this would cause multi-angle wear along the lockbar interface resulting in uneven wear and lock slip. When the knife goes back to center once fully closed is because the closed detent isn't pushing over as much because the detent ball seated into the blade.

Try loosening all the screws and the pocketclip too. Then tighten the pivot down all the way till it's hard to open and close. Then tighten the handle screws from the butt/ringfinger towards the front of the handle. Then tighten down the pocketclip screw. From there loosen the pivot just enough that it will open and closed without any pivot play/slop. The knife should be pretty centered from there. You can also reference the sticky about adjustments.

Keep in mind that all new Emerson's have a break-in period just like new shoes or a baseball catchers mitt.

I have two Combat Karambits and my sister also has one. None of them rub the liner when closing. Try tightening the pivot and see if that stops the rubbing. The knife will become smoother with repeated openings.
