Combat Karambit wave question

I've had my Emerson Combat Karambit for a few months now and I am finally going to put it in my EDC rotation. My question is this: When it is clipped into the right side pants pocket, which way should the wave part be facing? Towards the front or the rear? I ask this question because when I carry it clipped in my right side pants pocket, the wave part is facing the rear. Do I need to remove the clip and place it on the opposite side of the knife? Thanks! :)

Depends on what grip you want on the draw.
Normal grip: wave facing back.
Reverse grip: wave facing forwards.

I think the most natural position is with the Wave facing back.
With the Wave facing forward you will be opening the blade TOWARDS YOUR BODY AND FACE.

I cut a 12" rip on the front of one of my T Shirts when I first experimented with Blade forward carry on a Karambit :) YIKES.
Not to spook you too much, but one wrong move with the Karambit is too many

Yikes, jmpainter...that cut was too close for comfort...the first day i got my Emerson K-bit, i stuck it in my pocket then reached in in a feeble attempt to draw it out and got a finger-full of blade. bled like a stuck pig.
i love this knife!

Were you carrying in a pocket or in waistband?

I carry mine IWB with the wave facing in front. That way when I draw, the blade is facing in front of me. In other words, i have it in reverse grip when open, so the clip is on the left side of the knife.

works well for slashing!;)

The rip in my shirt was an OUTWARD cut with a Fixed blade drawn from a Belt Sheath in a crossdraw.

No accidents with the Emerson carried in the normal position.
I REALLY like this knife.

Ah, that makes sense.:)

I have 2 Emerson Karas. My Combat Kara is set to open in reverse grip- wave forward. My Bullnose is opposite. The set up is dependant on what you are planning on doing. Reverse for S/D, forward for utility.
