I would like to start a thread for those who carry and train with the Emerson Karambits. Just for the record, I consider the La Griffe to be nothing more than a tiny little Karambit, so I would welcome including it in the discussion.....
I'm posting here, because if I post in the tactical section we will just pick up a lot of brand bashers. If you don't happen to understand or like the Karambit, please exercise some restraint! There are plenty of places in the forums where you are welcome to express your opinions, but please leave this thread for those who seriously carry and train with these weapons, and those seaking genuine first hand information from actual users!
I'll start the discussion with a comparison of the standard Karambit with the Super. I purchased the Super because bigger is always better...right! The rational is that in winter everybody is wearing heavier clothing, so a longer blade with greater "reach" should be the hot ticket.
In training with the Super, I have to say that being larger and heavier than the standard model, I am finding it a little bit clumsy (slower!). In addition, it doesn't carry quite as well in the pocket.
Another issue that comes to mind is at what point is a Karambit blade to long??? I can imagine a very long blade cutting to deep and getting hung up on a rib or bone (like between the ulna and radius for example)......
