Combat Knife or Camp Knife?

This is a knife that Charlie just completed. It has an 8.5 inch blade, 1 1/8 inches wide, made of 1/4 inch CPM 3V. It is flat ground to a thin edge and has a tapered tang. The handle is made of bubinga and has stainless pins and thong hole liner. It also has a thong hole forward of the handle where it needs to be if it is going to be used for chopping.

That looks pretty nice. Is that a false edge extending all the way to the tip? Does it have a distal taper???

The knife does have a distal taper. The false edge is actually just a broken (I hate using that word in reference to a knife) corner and not carried to the point of being an edge, even a dull one. This gives an octagon look to the spine.

A hand sanded blade that big in 3V?!?! Yikes! That must have been a chore! :)

I'd call it a combative camping knife Harry ;)

In all seriousness... probably a camp knife. A VERY cool camp knife :D

Very nice.

Let's call it a camp knife.;)

Kind regards,

Jos

maybe a Campbat ? ;)

Very nice looking knife , fit & finish look very well done.

Let's see a shot of the tapered tang

Thanks for all the comments guys. I guess it will be called a camp knife unless it is needed for something else. Harry wants to call it a hog killing knife. It has a kind of tame look, but when you hold it you want to cut something deep, wide and continuously. Here is a shot of the tapered tang as requested.
