Combat Knife With Tax Return...

I'm looking for a fighting knife to blow a little of my tax return on. I think it's coming down to either the Gerber Mark 2 or the Boker Applegate-Fairbairn Combat Knife. I'm leaning more towards the Boker unless you guys have good reason for me to change my mind.

I like the length (long enough to be a real fighter but not so long I can't carry it), double edge (blade looks perfect but I really don't know anything about that steel), guard (I'm a fan of metal guards), and the price (I won't cry if I lose it).

The problem is I haven't held one so I'm not sure how it feels. Also, I can't get a good picture of the thickness of the blade, is it thick enough for a fighting knife?

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

I have been eyeing this Winkler Knives II dagger for some time now. Just haven had an excuse to buy one.

I have heard that the Boker Applegate-Fairbairn Combat Knife's blade isn't as strong as it should be. Is that true? Is it too thin?

I like my Gerbers(2 MKIIs & 2 Guardians) but not real fond of serrations, so I wish the MKIIs were the wasp waisted type.

Get what you want, but as for my humble opinion. Check out a Becker BK7. It is one of those knives that makes you smile when you pick it up. It is just one of Beckers "knives done right" designs.

What about an EK knife?
