Combining classic and modern handle materials

I currently consider ordering a custom fixed blade with two scales per side, the front handle slabs should be black CF secured with stainless steel pins (possibly teflonized), while the pommel area should sport desert ironwood with polished brass pins and a brass-lined lanyard hole...satin finished spear point blade, black leather sheath.
Overall design should be quite tactical, with an unsharpened back edge, a serrated thumb ramp plus both an index finger choil and a pretty substantial guard.

I understand that it's probably not too easy to picture a knife just by looking over the above specs, but right now I'm still a bit undecided on a few details, so there's no final sketch available and my scanner's hasn't been working properly for the past few weeks.

But I'd still like to know whether you think a knife like this could look good or would that be too stark a contrast in your opinion?

Also, I recall seeing a few knives somewhere that actually combined high-tech and classic handle materials, but I can't remember any model names. Links or pictures appreciated.

I think that combo of handles materials would look great. Just look at the BM 690. I know it's a different wood, but you get the point

Of course a knife like that *could* look good.
Something you should take into very careful consideration is the patterns you will be using.
The above Benchmade folder works very well because you can see the grain and it goes well with the cross pattern on the CF.
With that mind, let me suggest that if you go with a piece of unpatterned ironwood, (like maple burl) IMO you would be much better off going with an unpatterned piece of smooth micarta, possibly with a fancy screw cover.

The Hattori Fighters with rosewood and kraton grips are the only ones I could think of.
