Look, we are all friends here. Ill be the first to admit i baby my sebenza, It gets washed often, only used on soft things " like an apple" and it has its own sleeping spot and rest area for when im working around the house doing dirty work that i dont want my baby exposed to ie...painting, powerwashing, etc... Lets here if you baby yours in a special way.....come on now ..we wont laugh.

Sorry, I don't baby it at all. It rides in my pocket which means the clip rubs against the seat belt latch and my silver key ring leaves little white stripes on the blasted handles. At night I toss it in my change box with all my other pocket contents.

Now I don't chop trees, whittle concrete blocks or pry 1" staples out of old lumber but I do use it for everything a folding knife can and should be used for.

I turn it over and use the spine to pop gravel from my tires. I hold it flat to remove staples from documents. I open letters with it along with boxes and pallet strapping. Then at lunch I slice that apple.

I confess I do have another Sebbie with inlays that I carry on occasion but my EDC small Sebbie is a tool and is treated as such.

Cleaned when used, lubricated with frequency and the edge touched up when needed is all I expect to do to this knife for many years to come.

Haven't carried any of mine yet. Two Lisa's Pick and one Unique Graphic. I'm waiting for my large William Henry Clip Pouch to arrive any day now so I can carry one of the small ones inside a sheath inside my pocket. I actually keep them separated from my other knives, go figure.

The only real babying I do is to not put anything abrasive (like coins) in the same pocket in which I'm carrying my sebenza. Beyond that, I use the knife for purposes for which it was designed -- no prying (beyond office staples), heavy scraping, screw-driving, etc. I carry a SAK deluxe tinker as well, which has tools for many of the other jobs I need. Also, no throwing, or hard flicking (at least kept to a minimum), etc. The Sebenza is a precision machine -- even though I know it can be abused, I don't see a reason to do so.

Was up in the attic last night doing a little electrical work. Needed to trim a little drywall back. Had a leatherman on my hip and my sebbie in my pocket. Reached for the sebbie without even thinking about it.

Nope. No babying here. Cleaned it up when I was done. That's all.

If I had one, I'd use it. Handles can be refinished, although a little wabi is a good thing. Clips can be replaced if bent, etc

im with most of you. i use mine, dont worry about the scales or clip getting scratched up. but i also dont pry stuff with it.

sometimes i carry it on duty.

I use mine, but carry a "beater" for abusive tasks where I should be using another tool.:)

I try not to baby mine. It doesn't see hard work everyday, but I don't carry a pocket knife to just to make my pockets heavier. Let's use them!!

:)

Well, I'll come clean;)

I carry mine every workday, but I admit that if I need to do any serious cutting, I pull out my SAK:o

On weekends, I usually carry a Spyderco as I don't mind using that one a bit harder, although I don't abuse it either.

I don't have that much money to invest in knives (being in Canada, I also pay about 20% more for each piece), so I want to make sure that they last a long long time.

I know I exagerate though, as my 6-year old Spydie looks and feels brand new.

New Sebenza owner here. I just recently picked up a Large classic micarta. It immediately replaced the knife I was carrying that day (Benchmade morpho) and it has fallen into the same rotation and routine that all my EDC's have had in the past. Take it out at the end of the day and put it in a stack of other EDC / Pocket stuff. Mine does not get babied at all. And I gotta say I really love this knife!

I have a large and small Classic that Matt Cucchiara customized for me that I baby a little.

So, I have a large plain Regular that I don't baby.

.

Well, I thought I used it without concern, but I was some happy to have a Spyderco Salt in my pocket on the weekend during some lawn work. I needed to cut some sod and didn't even think of reaching for my sm. Seb. At times, I wonder if I should carry it all. Not that I don't like it, but I'm not sure I'm prepared for getting it damaged through regular chores.

I haven't carried any knife as much as my good old regular large Sebenza. It's always with me, wherever I go. Sebenza means work and it begs to be used. Scratches makes it even more personal and gives character to it. I wouldn't baby it - also not abuse it. I cut anything with Sebenza that I'd cut with any other pocket knife. I do maintain it's sharpness weekly with the sharpmaker and clean it after any food preparation etc, but that's it about 'babying' it.

Use it and carry it for gods sake, that's what it's made for.

I use mine too...

Except when I'm going out on the water. I hate to admit it, but when I'm in the boat I carry a cheap CRKT and leave the precious sebbie behind. I don't like it, but I can easily imagine dropping it into the lake and oh how that would HURT!

Not sure if that's "babying" but I definitely play it safe with the sebbie.

I have a large and small micarta, and I carry those on certain occassions. I don't abuse them, they are pretty much dress carry, but they have been used in the past. Surprisingly, the small Seb, that gets carried in my right pants pocket, rolls around with my keys, and hasn't gotten any severe scratches. Also, for some odd reason I clipped my lg Seb to my seatbelt when I pulled in my driveway, forgot about it, and heard a loud thunk when I got out of my truck, and the handle was fine, still clipped to the belt, but it had thunked against the body of my truck. These really are workhorses, but these are the most expensive productions I have paid for, probably the most expensive knives I have bought, so they get a little extra TLC.

Like La Bella has said to me and others, USE IT!

Well, I don't pry with mine, it's scratched up but I don't go cutting dirty carpets or dirtying it with sticky tape residue either. Mostly use it for envelopes, packaging, plastic, food, just having it around. It's off for a mod job now but I've got "scraper knives" for the dirty jobs in any case....
