Me: Ka-Bar is sending me some stuff to give away. Send me some out-there contest ideas. I'm talking gender swapping and body shaving kind of stuff.
TW: Cucumber carving. Best original carving using a cucumber and a Becker knife. Keep it clean.
Me: On it. I'm thinking there's going to be some cross-dressing too.
TW: Yeah, what could possibly go wrong with cucumbers and cross dressers?

Okay, it's true. There's a big box of steel in my living room, and tradewater's cucumber carving may materialize as an actual contest, so you can start practicing if you want.
In the meantime, let's get meta with a contest about contests. I want more ideas. Serious contests. Silly contests. Anything in between.
The contests should be legal/safe and should involve a Ka-Bar/Becker blade of some sort.
If your contest is selected to run, you'll receive a Ka-Bar Jarosz Folder (7505). Will get some pics up of the prize soon.

I'm going to post this one in the Becker subforum as well. But there can only be one winner!

Wanna do cross dressing?
In the American spirit...
Contestants must post a pic of their own choice of one of our first ladies or president then recreate that pic with themselves as the first lady or president and include a Ka-Bar knife in the pic. Men dress as first ladies and women contents dress as the president

I agree with lostviking. The cross dressing aspect is not something I'll support. I think it gives of a really weird vibe that manufacturers shouldn't really be supporting (imo at least).

Also lostviking, those now saws are pretty fun. I've made a couple now, but still haven't figured them it as well as a steel framed one.

How about a "spread the disease/infection/etc" event, where you attempt to teach someone soma I'd your favorite/most useful outdoor skills, to someone who doesn't know them? It may turn some participants into customers or forum participants/etc. Plus, they say that when you think you really know something... Teach it. You'll find out really quickly if your a qualified teacher.

What about "using the wrong knife for the job" contest? Its easy to chop/process firewood with a 4/9/20/21. But how good are you at it with an 11? The BK2 is great at batoning, but not at slicing carrots. The 14 may be great for detailed carving, but can you carne the same thing with your 9?

The point of that one, is to get outside your normal usage zone, and learn to use it in a different manner. You might learn something, and if you do, post up the learning/technique for everyone to benefit from.

How about making a more difficult piece of camp furniture/etc than you've ever attempted before? Honor system of course, but the goal of many of these contests has been to learn. Just try something new :).

Anyway, those are my ideas for now.
 
how about something in the spirit of LVs classic thread.
for a given month post a new outdoor pic of any kabar knife in nature as many days as you can.
whoever posts the most days of the month - and can prove the pictures were taken on those days - wins.
bonus points for doing cool things rather than just posting glamour shots.
in case of a tie (2 people get out 29 of 30 days for example) then we come up with a tie-breaker.
