Coming soon to a community near you

I just came back from turning in all my deadly knives to the police. I feel much safer now.

"Tackling knife culture, especially among young people, is paramount to the safety of our communities, and I am determined to reduce the devastation caused by knife crime."

You hear that guys and gals? Knife culture = Knife crime :jerkit:

Quote "Every weapon handed in during the amnesty will be a weapon that cannot be used in crime." Unquote

Gee, and I thought my knife collection was just sitting passively in the safe. Guess I'd better check on them more frequently to make sure one of them hasn't gone astray and committed a crime.

Now really. Are you suggesting that this time would be better spent actually patrolling the many no-go areas of Britain, and actually dealing with crime & criminals. Surely not. The main "criminals" that get chased in this country are speeding drivers (speed cameras are EVERYWHERE!) & folks using their mobile phone while driving! A heinous crime, bring back capital punishment.
I regularly see gangs of feral kids roaming the streets unhindered, some of the little darlings walked up my very quiet road the other night, gathered around my car (clearly up to no good) but decided to move along when I lit them up with my Surefire (Id rather light them up with a bonfire, but still!)
I for one will sleep safer in my bed knowing that our amazingly effective Home Office* have come up with another great idea. Turn your knives in before all those nasty, pointy, sharp inanimate objects leap out of drawers, cupboards etc of their own accord!
What a totally pointless exercise. Getting knives off the streets! Yeah, right. Your average scrote carries a Stanley Knife (Linoleum knife in the States) & often just the blade sandwiched between two coins or two pieces of cardboard. But, hey, fear not, Im sure these hoodlums will see the light & turn in their sharps!
I TRULY AM SICK OF LIVING IN THIS COUNTRY. I WISH IT WASNT SO DIFFICULT TO EMIGRATE TO THE STATES.

By the way, the Home Office, as well as being responsible for the various Police Forces in England & Wales, also run MI5, chiefly responsible for counter-intelligence AND counter-TERRORISM. HOW scary is THAT!!

I thinks it's a great idea. I'm gonna throw away all my 200$ plus knives to prevent crime and while im at it ill throw away all my kitchen knives because they are deadly.

A five-week nationwide knives amnesty is being launched in the summer in an attempt to drive down numbers of stabbings.
Stunningly naive and misguided. I wrote a bunch of stuff about this, but I round-filed it because I just realized it is exactly the same argument as the one about restricting law-abiding citizens from owning guns. :(

The UK can greatly reduce their rate of stabbings by just legalizing handguns! If people want to kill or maim their fellow citizens they will always find a way to do it...

Just another example of how far Britain has sunk.

Pathetic.

But, I must ask; "Where is the outrage of the citizenry?" Some demonstrations, letter writing campaigns, voting members out of the House of Commons, etc.

Then again, its not like the U.S.A couldn't go down the same assinine road, is it?

Not that it matters to our gun and knife grabbing politicians, but we have the 2nd Amendment in the U.S. Constitution. In the end, the Brits are subjects to the Crown and act like it. The Magna Carta didn't give them the right to keep and bear arms.

The 2nd Amendment right to bear arms in the is one of the few rights that have not been extended to apply to the states. States are free to ban guns if they want. Just an FYI.

But, the U.S. Constitution is the highest law of the land. It supercedes all other laws at any and all levels.

Has there been a court case on this? I think the courts ruled that the 14th amendment (equal protection under the law) meant that the bill of rights applied to all states.
