I am going back to California from Feb 1st to the 11th. If anybody wants to hang out, I'll be in the Santa Cruz area.
Yeehaw.

Why? Whatcha got goin on there?

LOL. Are you having fun being back in the states?

have fun in commiefornia. just remember self defence is illegal there unless you have a criminal license (available from your local barrio jefe) and it pays to carry a get out of jail free card (issued by the paris hilton foundation). you'll love the florescent orange round tip plastic ninja weapons stored securely in the dojo weapons locker.

Danny,

I'm a very short drive from Santa Cruz, and would be happy to hook up. No idea of their schedules, but maybe Joe and Ted could come down as well. (?)

For that matter you are more than welcome to stop by my place in Salinas, which is < 1 hr. south of SC, or to come by for dinner if you have time. (No shuriken throwing at the roast this time, OK? :D)

I'll email my contact info to you just in case, and hope to touch bases while you're out here.

Best,

Norm

anybody i nthe Dallas area wantto buy an anvil? I need hooker money for my California trip.

What kinda anvil? Gimme details. You'd have to ship it for me though. (I'd pay, of course.)

Well, it's your standard anvil with the horn on the side. Sucker weighs a ton.
It was my grandfathers. How much are those things worth?

It depends on what its made of and what it weighs.

PM me details. Details. Details.

Hope the anvil works out for the two of you. I would have loved to snag a really old time one, so when Danny said "grandfather" it caught my eye. I finally got a 110 pound one from my father-in-law just before he passed on. He lived up on the Norcal coast a mile from the ocean and his shop door faced west, so it was a mass of rust. He couldn't say how old it was, but figured about 20 years or so.

Took me a a couple of hours to clean it up with a grinder, and then coated it with some good black epoxy paint and setup a stand for it.

It has a longer profile than the ones you get at Harbor Freight, and I think it's harder to boot. Good luck on the deal. Andy, if you get it set up post some pics would you? Come to think of it, except for the HF Chinese stuff, I don't know where folks get their big anvils...

At 80 lbs, its exactly the same weight as the one I have. I'm looking for something 150# or better.

Where do people get their big anvils?? There are a couple of places that still sell new ones. Mega $$$. Anvils are hard to get.

I know Santa Cruz is the smallest county in the Golden State, but could you do better? I'm in Campbell which is about a half hour away, depending on travel conditions over the summit.
