A quick question guys, does the Commander have ball detents on both sides of the liners like the Ravens do?

Peter

Yes it does. That is very observant of you. You are the first person to have posted anything about the double detent. Good eyes.

Thanks for the quick reply Derek. I am Very fussy with my knives and like to pull 'em apart to make them "just right". This second ball detent seems to keep the blade in a steady position which helps with the great lock up. I am still suprised that that Ernie doesn't screw in the stop pin, this would help with making the handle even more rigid. However the Raven I just bought is plenty strong enough for me, I'm very happy with it overall. It has it's faults and I'd make some minor changes but it seems to find it's way into my uniform each day. In the near future I'll be getting a Commander, I'm looking forward to handling this one. By the way Derek, not much seems to be said about the specwar models, do they have the same thick liners and scales as the Commanders?

Regards Peter

Not all the Commanders have ball detents on both sides, the earlier ones only has the one, as seen on most knives...Benchmade, etc...Their is only the liner on the side without.

Have yours looked at close before you buy it! I had to look at quite a few and the one I went with was the newer type but the ball detent on the lock side was missing, which I liked better anyway. The others I looked at seemed to catch as the blade had to first pass over the ball to close.

Be sure to also have the dealer look VERY close at the liner lock position for you. I had to go through all that were in stock until I found only two that stopped where they should and not all the way to the far side.

Its a good knife if you can get a good one. I carried mine for awhile but the blade style was akward to use so I went back to my Benchmade AFCK and CQC7.
