I have a new commander and the liner lock will slide down the base of the blade towards the handle towards the side the liner lock retracts into when i apply pressure on the back of the blade. It hasn't slid off the blade yet, but I haven't hit the back of the blade hard or tried stabbing anything as of yet. Is this common and should I send the knife back? Any information or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

As a point of reference, what year and serial number is on the blade. The serial number is under the thumbwheel.

Its a liner lock. Hard stabs with liner locks is a recipe for serious injury from any maker and not a good idea. If you search you can find a fair amount of reports of people having done so that regretted it.

Even though Ernie makes a fine knife they do have an occasional one that needs some help. Send it back with a detailed explanation and have them correct it. At least you are in good hands with one of his knives so if you are going to go with liner locks you picked a maker that will at least back them up.
