1) i am not good at free hand sharpening, so i have
A) lansky sharpener with ALL the stones
B) spyderco sharpmaker sharpener
the "problem" is, that BOTH sharpening systems have pre-set angles which do not match the commander or mini-commander. ANY suggestions how to get the correct angle on the chisel blade?
ANY advise would be greatly appreciated:)
P.S. i am sure this subject has come up before, however i am working 13 hour days, 7 days a week and kinda need a "quickie" answer...

$10 to ship
$10 to return...
what i am looking for is an aftermarket sharpener with adjustable angles. i have "seen" them on the "net", but don't remember the name.
i can not afford $20 every time i need my knife sharpened and 2-4 weeks without my favorite EDC.
thanks for the idea:) it just does not work for me though...

You may be thinking about the "Edge Pro" sharpening system. I know BEST Knives has them on their site for about $120.00. Don't know who else carries them. You could also try the "marker trick". Use a dry erase type marker on the blade, use the sharpmaker in the 40 degree hole. Turn the knife so you match the angle as close as you can eyeball. If you have the right angle the marker will start to come off, if not adjust till marker is coming off. It takes a bit to get the hang of it, but can be done.

thanks droopy170 ( and everyone else:)
thats the name i was trying to remember. to late with the info though, LOL! i modified the lansky to "fit" the angle of th commander. works GREAT!!!
also, your idea of matching the angle was also good, shows you're thinking:) i will have to try it. i was able to "match" the angle with the lansky-"marker trick" and a few minutes modifying on the lansky angles...
now i like the chisel grind!
