Hello! Is there any way you can identify what year of Commander you have other than measuring the liner thickness or looking for a secondary detente? In other words, are the knives marked by date of construction? (I don't have one.) If anyone could answer this for me, I'd appreciate it.

Leif - all recent Emerson knives have the year they were produced on the blade. The numbers below the logo are the year. HTH

Tub, the "1" in 20100 is actually a continuation of the logo above. It cuts through the date "2000". My "99" looks like "919" unless you look closely. Hope that helps.

WOW! you got yourself a rare one!

No........ not really. If you take a loupe you can easily see that you've got yourself a 2000 model. The l that separates the 20 from the 00 is simply a downward extension of the line in the middle of the Emerson EKI logo.

However even though not rare you've still got one of the best.
