Does anyone know, or does Emerson Knives modify Commanders? Specifically, I have two on order and would like to have clips placed on the opposite scale than they are currently placed for offside carry.

Thanx,
Ed

I don't think they will do any modifications on the production knives. I contacted them for similiar change to the SpecWar folder and was told they do no customizing of the production knives. You should contact them directly, just to verify.

Someone posted awhile ago on the old forum that he ordered a Commander and before he got it from the dealer, it was sent to Emerson to get the clip on the other side before he received it.

In the past many have had requests for modifications on there production knives but recently, a few of my friends have been turned down for changes to the other end or side.

I recently saw a video Ernie did (not sure how old the video was though) where he said that they did do requests to move the clips to the other side. Not sure if that is just a service or "custom work". If it was old, their policies may have changed.
Other option is get a bit/tap of proper size and do it yourself. It's pretty easy if you have a small drill press.
Do one hole, tap, attach clip.
Drill through clip to do second hole with clip secured with first screw hole tapped.
Remove clip, tap second hole.
Repeat process for third hole you did on second.
Maybe 10 mins

Send them to EKI and they will drill out holes for off side carry. It costs around $25 plus shipping fees. They also make a left handed Commander so that may be an option for you down the road. Just FYI. Hope this helps.

This thread is 15 years old, I think that might be a record.

End of conversation, all bases covered.
