Commander sharpening help?

I already went back looking for old threads on sharpening the chisel grind.
I found this one,

and tried the stropping on cardboard.
I've got a nice "grabby" edge, but it won't shave a lick.
Should I strop on both sides or just the grind side?
Any other advise?

The best advise I've heard on sharpening a Commander came from Ernie. Lay the knife on the edge of a table and work a sharpening stick over the edge. A magic marker can be used to coat the edge to make sure your getting the edge right. Once you have sharpened the knife, you will have built up a wire edge on the back side. Strop the backside with a leather belt or the cardboard back to a legal pad.
