Commander size comparison

Hi Everyone! I've been thinking about getting my first Emerson, and have narrowed my options down to either a commander or mini commander. However, the problem is that I have never seen the knives in person (the nearest store to me must be four hours away) and I can't get a good estimate on the size from youtube videos or basic stats. I'm afraid that either the commander will be to big or the mini commander would be too small and I'm wondering if anybody had pictures of either of them next to a less expensive knife or more common knife, like a tenacious or a RAT 1 or 2. Here is one I took the other day for another thread. It does not have a Commander in it, but the ZT 561 on the top has the same 3.75" blade and 8.75" overall length as the Commander. The Mini Commander is 3.5" blade and 8" overall length so is 1/4" shorter the Para 2 shown below.

Tenacious has a 3.39" blade and 7.76" overall length.
Rat 2 has a 3" blade and is 7" overall length.
Paramilitary 2 has a 3.5" blade and is 8.28" overall length.


So, the smallest knife in this picture (Para 2) is 1/4" longer than the Mini-Com, but is still 1/2" longer than the Tenacious, and 1.25" longer than the Rat 2. The ZT 561, exact same size as the Commander, is a full 1" longer than the tenacious and 1.75" longer than the Rat 2.

I would say since the Mini Commander is already bigger than both the Tenacious and Rat 2, that if you like big folders, get the Commander, if not, get the Mini Commander.

If the ontario rat 1 and the tenacious fit your hand well, so will the mini commander, although it is slightly shorter or stubbier, it still feels good, I have or have had all these knives btw. I will say the mini commander is a good edc blade, HOWEVER, if you don't mind a little bigger knife, the regular size commander just feels that much better in the hand. When you pull it out of the box you'll pry think it's to big, especially if your not used to larger knives, but once you carry it and use it, it'll "shrink" as I would call it. When I first got my full size I said man that's a big knife, now that I've used it and carried it for about 3 weeks it seems like a normal size knife lol I really wish I could post a pic for you, but I have no idea how on an iPad, but I hope something I said helps!
