Commander trainer lock failure

A couple of weeks ago, I purchased a Commander trainer from Emerson Inc. and I had a problem with the locking mechanism. The liner lock did not tightly engage the tang of the blade, so that the lock was disengaged by even light pressure against the spine of the blade. Simply performing forehand snap cuts with the trainer produced enough momentum to cause the lock to fail and the blade to close on my hand. Even snapping the blade out with a hard kinetic opening did not engage the liner lock tightly enough to prevent lock failure under minimal pressure. I sent the trainer back to Emerson Inc. and they sent me a new one, which arrived today. Unfortunately, this one has the exact same problem. I have had my Commander folder (the sharp version) for over a year, and its blade locks very solidly, so I was surprised when the trainer performed so poorly. I thought the first trainer I received was just a dud that slipped through quality control. Now, I am not so sure.

Has anyone had a similar problem with the Commander trainer's locking mechanism? If so, how did you fix it?

I really hope this lock failure problem
gets resolved that was the reason I
got my Commander I had a White Wolf auto

I have never had any problem with the Commander tough as nails.

The folks at Emerson told me today that there was a bad batch of bolts that got onto some Commanders and were replaced. Also, new Commanders are getting the factory locktight treatment to solve that pesky pivot problem. They also said that the lock had been re-worked within the last few months to improve lockup reliability.

The folks at Emerson are VERY nice to deal with.
