Commander vs. Mini Commander

I've had a Mini Commander for a little over a year now and I love it as a compact mid-sized folder. It's an amazing knife although I feel that it leaves a bit to be desired as far as the overall length of the knife.

I've been thinking about trying out the full sized Commander for a while, but I'm not sure if I can justify the purchase given that I already have the Mini. If any of you guys happen to have both knives would you please post a picture of them side by side? I would really appreciate it!

Dale has a micro on the way and he is doing a comparison with the mini 7/
Maybe he has those too?

Sorry no pic but both work so well. I just like the bigger size as the Commander is my most used EKI.

When I was shopping for my Commander, I found this size comparison vid from a supporting vendor:

The regular and mini Commanders look pretty similar in size to my eyes. I'd go right to the Super Commander if I wanted to upsize from the Mini.

Hope the vid helps and good luck, OP! :)

No... only the mini-Com. I sold my full-sized Commander a while back because it was too big for me to carry. I really like the mini-Comm but as much as I tried to love the Commander, it just didn't happen. I'm the same way about the Para 2 and the Military. Like one, the other's out of my size range.

Oh yeah.
Dale, your a midsize knife guy or small. Forgot about that.
I was just about to post the utube video, just saw timber got to it.

Thanks that's very helpful.

I love the Military I like larger knives as well as smaller ones personally.

I'd sell the mini and buy the full size. When I sold my 8 I regretted it. I bought a super 8 and have no desire for the smaller one anymore.

The BIG folder-thing is interesting. I like both the Military and the Para but I sold my Millie and EDC the Para. As you all know, I have a few CQC7's but I have been EDCing the Super 7. I do like how light weight the Military is tho.

If you want you can wait for the UBR commander to be released. Believe me when you hold that all other folders will seem like peas

I should have my standard Commander today. I have a mini commander I got in a trade and frankly it was pretty beat up sadly, I did not ask enough questions. So i sent the blade to Josh at REK to see if he could try and touch it up. So I dont have the blade but can take pictures to compare handles.. I know, lame.

The deal is IMHO the Commander looked like a big knife, I bought one, and carry it daily switching it out with a CQC-7. It is not so big.

Well I messured the standard comm and the mini comm handle.. The comm handle is just at 5.150 give or take and the mini comm is 4.635 so not alot smaller however I am really liking the comm size its very close to the sheepdog i have. Hope these help... I honestly thought the comm would be to big but its perfect for me... I do think a super would be to big for me personally and the micro comm I had and traded for the mini comm was to small for my meat hooks.Sorry for the bad pics I have never been good at taking pics and to lazy to learn.20160106_131721.jpg20160106_131915.jpg20160106_142821.jpg

Thanks guys! Now I'm thinking about the Super Commander!

I don't think you will regret getting the super commander, that is if you like big blades, it is a beast but it is an easy to carry beast; I don't have mine anymore but I miss it.

And thanks for the video Timber, as well as for the pics fstcarsknives; I love this forum.

Those Jungle commanders look really good, though I'm going for the super soon as I find one.

Thanks for all the help guys I'm still thinking about it. It's really hard for me to decide on an Emerson knife I've been trying to make up my mind for an entire month.
