The 5th annual Commandments of Steel in Tel Aviv went great as usual.
As usual we missed having Sal with us and his family over in the Holy Land..
Mary, Peter, Andy, Steve, Greg, Susan, Thomas, Aistee, all came over to play in Israel...
It started off with 4 major 2+ hour classes on the use of impact and edged tools in Tel Aviv Park, teaching the CSSDSC school of Israel..
Yup..I have a branch school in Tel Aviv. It's the Israeli Headquarters for CSSD-MBC in Israel..Our other two schools are out from Tel Aviv..
GM Igor came to demo Vietnamese Branch of Wing Chun to us..He and his school have become family with our MBC- Arnis program in Tel Aviv.
Of course we progressed to the Gunting. It was really cool to see EVERYONE wearing a Gunting DRone and most had CRIMPTs on the side..
Upon leaving the park the Live blade Guntings appeared in everyone's pockets..
I felt right @ home!

Then the Commandments themselves were held @ DR Dennis Hanovers school. Dennis is the father of Martial Arts in Israel with Imi the main Grandfather..Imi invented-founded Krav Maga. His students are what we think of as Combat Krav Maga.Later one of Imis three living personal student's GM Hiem Zut brought hia Krav Maga instructors over to train with us..As did GM Ronnie Kluger of Israeli GojuRyu.

I taught Modular MBC units..that stressed concepts and use of concepts in a train the trainer atmosphere..I wanted a response of" I CAN DO THIS" from everyone..and It worked!
Modular teaching lets one fill in units as they overlap..adding or decreasing as need be...
We did accessing the tools, immediate response to acccessing.. and then modular 1-4-12..with Standard, Backwards, Mirror & backwards backwards..and within that range Equal Forward, Unequal Forward-reverse, Unequal Reverse-forward & Equal Reverse as our factors...
Then we went to Gunting impact applications..
the five basic entries and responses...
KinOp usage within the flow of Combat..
The Gunting proved itself again as the only within the Flow of usage tool ,,,and the only full force continuum tool...
Thanks Spyderco for making me such a cool tool..
I love seeing my designs-inventions work within the prescribed combative situations..

Then it was off to teach the IDF-Anti Terror Instructors @ the Instructor training facility..It was somewhere off the beaten path..up in the mountains...NO I can't say where..But it sure was cool going through the security checks to get there!
Andy Wires went with me , Guy & Yuval to teach the Instructors @ the School..I taught fixed blade and Gunting..
WHY? Because arresting & control are new items that must be taught to all personel..one must arrest, restrain and control susected terrorists not just kill them right off..
And it seems my being there all these years and pushing it as a full force continuum option is having an effect..
Thanks to Avi Mor for all his great write ups about me, my training & the Gunting system in MUGAN Israel's main security magazine..
Seems people recognize me and the Gunting now and its direct application to Police, Anti Tertor, and Security work..

Then I taught LEO-Police security the use of Gunting CRMIPT as an effective impact -control tool for everyday usage...

A few private lessons..
a bunch of great food
Wonderful sightseeing and then 2 weeks was over...

I hope to see some of you next year in Israel..

Funny thing..for the first time several OTHER companies have approached me about sponsoring or being the main manufacturer identified with the Commandments..
Seems in todays anti terror world it's worth something to claim not that we train WITH the Israelies but that we TRAIN the Israelies...and what tools do we use...

Thanks for posting that Bram. I can't tell you how sweet you make that whole trip sound. I actually spoke to Steve the day he left and he got me pretty excited about the stuff you guys were teaching over there.

The non PC stuff must've been hella fun!

Bok- the non-pc stuff is not fun to be on the recieving end of- Bram did a tiny demo on me in class-aahhh!--Joe

Also strange that I know what techniques bram is talking about..I know it looks indecipherable, but taught the right way, it all comes together-Thanks, Bram..

Needless to say I'm jealous. Haven't talked to Steve yet, but I'll bet that it was another memorable trip. Hope to join the Gunting gang next year.

Hope to see some of you here in Vancouver in a few weeks.

Ed,

Avi has a T-shirt for you. He forgot to give it to me, but maybe one of the Israelis can bring it to the Modern Arnis Symposium in Buffalo. Guy? Yuval?

The Commandments rocked this year. The Israel group is the largest CSSD/SC school in the world. They have done an outstanding job over the last few years. The quality of their students and instructors is first rate.

The day trips around the country were very cool. Masada was amazing.

Get ready for next years Commandments: http://www.goisrael.com/

:D

Vancouver is going to be fun. I am already planning 2004 in Vancouver. A few from Israel are going to make the big trip here. Germans, Aussies, Lithuanians, Brits.....who knows who else may join? Maybe even a Floridian or two?... :D (Jim, that means you.)

For 5 years now I've gone to Israel to teach as an MBC- MBC Gunting course..
I teach the reality of impact with the CRMIPT..
The reality of the training is in that Israel cannot afford to see or be taught "paper self defense"..it has to be reality based..it has to work..
I've mixed Spyderco Gunting with my Abaniko fixed blade Gunting...

I want to thank my Israeli family for making it possible for me to teach and share over in Israel..
Each year it gets bigger..
Each year we get more people from other styles and vocations to come..Each year more self defense guys from other agencies in Israel come to witness or to train....

Restraint, control & arrest are new main avenues of usage for the Anti Terror units..
Something I've taught there now for 5 years..
Guess persistence pays off..

I hope that next year I'll see more Forumites over in Israel..
it's the place to be ...
