One year ago today

I remember riding in the ambulance wondering if I would ever make knives again.

This machine weighs over 1000 pounds tipped over and CRUSHED my right hand.
Pulverized the end of the ring finger. Broke the pinkie in several places and caused lasting tissue damage to my middle finger. I have a cool Harry Potter looking scar on my hand now ;-)

It took several firefighters to stand the surface grinder vertical again.
Now a year later, I gritted through my JS test and passed. I am a full time knifemaker and we are getting ready to welcome our fourth little girl into the Fowler family.

I owe a debt of gratitude to too many people to name here but I love you all

I made this knife to commemorate the anniversary of my hand injury

Glad all worked out well and you are back to doing what you love. Will look forward to seeing more of your creations.

glad to hear you recovered so you can continue to do what you love. amazing story, absolutely beautiful knife. thanks for sharing

Stephan,

That's a great looking knife.

I'm glad that you are back to making nice knives and even nicer children.

I'd say the accident greatly improved your knifemaking. :D

Good to see you back alive and kicking ass, bud.

Congrats on your recovery. Nice commemorative knife. Am I the only one who is wondering how a 1000lb surface grinder falls over, and how you (or parts of you) ended up underneath it?

Glad to hear the good news. Congrats on the recovery, and passing JS test.

Nice looking knife you got there, simple, but nice. Love the Damascus pattern especially.

A fine looking knife that is representative of your determination to stick to something you love to do.
