According to BF Rules, one is not supposed to post comments on sales threads unless it relates to the transaction. Early in my BF days, I did this and was emailed, by a Mod., reminding me of this rule. Yet I see an increasing amount of similar comments on sales threads nowadays. What gives?...Cheers.

Realistically, we cannot read every sales thread. We get the ones that are reported first, and then surf the first few pages of the sales sections. Commentary is allowed in the knifemakers section ONLY. But for the individual section where gold and platinum members post, it is not allowed. They just want to sell the items they have and move along, not hear how cool it is, or how someone wishes they had money to buy it. The less clutter the better, yet he have a handful of people here that still just don't understand that. We ask nicely first, when that stops working, we have to write warnings then infractions. We try and give people some leeway, and be courteous and not heavy handed bancrazy lunatics.

We read literally hundreds and hundreds of threads per day, at least I try and get through at least 100 sales threads every day, that is not to mention the other dozens of subforums we have here as well. Not to mention dispute resolution, researching and keeping scammers, spammers, and asshats out overall. I have my own system adopted from a mix of styles of the long standing moderators that have been here since day one, as does rycen. Just takes time.

So to answer the question, life. Life is what gives. Only so many hours in the day and by my estimation over the last 5 years things have gotten much better with the changes that Spark has made. What would really help is if people took the full minute to read the actual rules and made some sort of effort to follow them. The Exchange is running pretty darn smoothly from what I have seen if I do say so myself. Will there be glitches here and there? Hell yes, such is life. Nothing is perfect. But we are getting better all the time. ;)

We get tips from regular members when someone trashes a sales thread, which helps us deal with it. Just telling us there are problems out there without specifics goes nowhere.

Just read these. Thanks very much for your replies and efforts, gentlemen. Keep up the great work, and I will pass this along to my friend V'man...;-)
