Whew! I arrived home from the Blade Show at about 10:30am yesterday. We hit the ground running and I have not had a chance to catch up with the forums until a couple of hours ago. I had received a call from Spark that he had felt it was necessary to lock a thread on our forum. I read the thread and could see the need.

I think that customer service matters are best handled privately between the buyer and the seller. . . . whenever possible. If you fail to get a response from the person and/or company that you are dealing with, then it might not be a bad idea to go public. Take a look a few threads down and notice where one of our customers posted the topic “Where’s my knife?” He stated that he had called and emailed us, all to no avail. . . . . It wasn’t a matter of us avoiding him, it was simply a matter of screwed-up interoffice communications on our part and a case where everyone thought that the other guy was handling the situation, when in fact no one had. Turns out that we did, indeed, drop the ball but were more than willing to not only own up to our mistake, but to go the extra mile in remedying the situation. No harm, no foul.

I would prefer that issues like these, be handled in a private, gentlemanly fashion, but at the same time recognize the realities of the internet. I believe that as long as these public interchanges can remain somewhat calm and well mannered, a resolution to most problems can be found.

It is true that we are no longer involved in a business relationship with the dealer mentioned in the thread that I have since deleted. I do not know if this dealer had wanted his name to be mentioned, even though its mention was made by someone who had come out in his support. In light of this, I have deleted this entire topic. This dealer had assured us that he would contact all of his customers concerning this matter. . .

The details of our relationship with this dealer are private and will not be discussed here. For those of you who have dealt with this dealer in the past, you have come to expect a high level of commitment on his part. He is, most assuredly, working diligently to resolve any outstanding issues and has, to my knowledge, generally provided good customer service. If you have any future concerns about this dealer, please do not address them here as they will be redirected to the appropriate forum. Bladeforums has a specific forum for these matters (GBU) and it is the proper arena for discussions of this type.

I hope that this issue is resolved so that I can get back to what I wanted to post about. . . . . . KNIVES!

I will post Blade Show action and Zero Tolerance details tomorrow.

Regards,

Jerry Busse
