I've been looking at the clip point, satin, plain edge Pioneer II, and like it. Any comments?

Rock solid, substantial, almost nuke-proof. Not the sexiest looking knife I own but I bet it will be around for my five year old to pass along to his kids. It's a daily carry knife for one of the guys in our testing lab. 1SKS had 'em deeply discounted within the last few weeks.

i just ordered one from 1sks, and can't wait.
my first adventure in rolling locks. the anticipation is agonizing...lol.

actually, i ordered the tanto point, but thats just my pref... i was torn between the 2, and saw the tanto wasn't too angled, so i went with it.

they are very nicely discounted at 1sks, as rawhide pointed out. very worth it. and i don't even have it yet..lol.

although, i was curious if the "optional" front break sheath comes with it. i don't know if it does.

later.

I had a drop point PioneerII as a daily carry
a while ago, I ended up giving it to a good buddy of mine who was in need of a good knife. The thing is a very rugged work knife, much like all REKATs. I liked that knife a great deal. If 1SKS didn't have them discounted I would suggest looking at the Carnivore Cub as well. That is another great little knife. I have a Cub now and have come to the conclusion I like it a little better. It is difficult to go wrong with the Pioneer though, the handle shape is more versatile than the Cub. Blade, get one while they are still around. If you don't like it give me a holler, I REALLY need to replace the one I gave away.

Sean,

The Pioner II comes with a pocket clip and I don't think the breakfronts were offered with that model. I'm doing REKAT's sheathwork now, have several of the Pioneer IIs, and can make a breakfront for it if you'd like, in either standard thickness or heavy duty. Just let me know.

Just got my Pioneer II. Wow! This knife IS even better than I thought it would be. I didn't like the way it looked at first(not as sexy as the Carnie or Sifu) but it feels so good in my hand. I don't want to go back to anything else.

Except one thing...my thumb is getting quite sore(Rolling Lock thumb?) from breaking in the lock. I'll have to outsource this task to one of my brothers. Nah, I don't want to part with it.
