I posted awhile back and got excellent assistance and advice from Tim Duncan which I really appreciate. I am ready to take the stag scales off my Puma Companion and replace them with wood with thinner profile. For a change, instead of jumping the gun, I'd like some practice. Who (what company) is the best supplier for a nice assortment of preformed blades so i can pick out a nice shape and practice putting scales on it? Thanks to all and Tim in particular. Ed

Ed,
there's a number of knife blank suppliers. Texas Knifemaker's Supply, Janz, Koval, etc. They all carry a variety of precut and finished blades that you can purchase reasonably and then you can add any kind of handle material you want. Matter of fact, if you buy some of those, you might wind up just putting that Puma back in the sheath and trying your own hand at making blades!--Dan

I have scale material and I am aware of some of the big supply companies. Thought there might be a company oput there specialized in pre-formed blades and since I am putting my labors in it I want to start with a decent piece of metal. Thanks, Ed

I always liked the blades Bob Engnath used to offer, Loveless style to Henry Bowie style. K&G Finishing Supplies carries A&N Blades which are dendritic versions of some of the Engnath collection. K&G phone: (520) 537-8877.
