Saw a guy at a gun/knife show with a sharpening wheel, he put a nice edge on my carry and threw in a great polish on my ring. If I brought a khuk back tomorrow for the same treatment, would the wheel work on the curved blade?

Depends on the guy behind the wheel. Give the knife to me and I'd probably ruin it. :(

If he knows what he's doing it should be alright. I saw an old ghorka pic and they were using a wheel.

Maybe I should get mine professionally sharpened. :)

I was waiting to see where this went and it looks like it ain't going anywhere.

Vicks the problem with those wheels is that they produce a very slight concave or hollow grind right along the edge.
This is fine for most people with a pocket knife of some sort because most people cut string, tape and carcboard.
I wouldn't put an edge on any of my khuk's with them, makes the small edge to apt to chip.

I think I understand...

The wheel can only make a circular shaped cut in the metal. Therefore to grind the edge with the wheel, the shape of the edge will be of the same diameter as the wheel. This will leave less metal behind the cutting edge as will someone using a belt sander. The smaller diameter the wheel, the less metal behind the edge. Yes?

(Now backtracking to save face)...

The only grinding wheels in my country are 50 feet in diameter. The curve on this wheel would be negligible. ;) I was assuming you were using the same size wheel. :)

More reasons not to listen to me.
