Does anyone know a source that produces a standard Bowie profile HD leather sheath that will work for a 11" blade? Numerous searches yielded zero results for me. I saw a number of 10" sheaths but no 11" sheaths.
Thanks for any help.

I understand and appreciate that option ... but that was not the question ... I would be fine with a leather sheath kit to hand sew together ... or with off the shelf semi-custom from a sheath maker ...
I am looking for a plain pancake style HD leather sheath for a working bowie so I'm not looking to spend money on fancy leather work for this knife but I'm willing to pay for good quality ...

A sheath is like a shoe.
One size fits all doesn't work well.
One 11" bowie could be vastly different from another.
Just like a size 9D shoe is different from a 9EEE.

At best, it would be a compromise, hence my DIY suggestion.

It would help if we knew the make and model of the knife in question.

Ideally someone willing to make the sheath would have the knife.

If…

If it doesn't have to be leather, and won't be carried you can do what I did for my Ontario machete.
I took some heavy cardboard and folded it three times to make a rectangular sheath for the knife.
The side with the double thick fold is the welt side.
Closed it with a couple wraps of gaffer's up and down the length of it.
Not the prettiest, but it protects the edge and me from the edge when it is in the camp box.

Good luck with your project.

The knife came with a sheath which I reworked and dipped in hot wax which makes it good for now ... but its thinner leather than I like ... I was asking to see if anyone knows of commercially produced ones that are HD as that will be more cost effective than a custom job. If I want a custom sheath I can take a card board template to a local saddle shop and have one made out of heavy tool leather. I have done it before with axes. Just asking ... apparently no one knows of any ...

I'm having the same trouble you did finding something that is a bit more rugged and also is a ready made generic piece. JRE industries used to do a line of ready made sheaths, might give them a peek. I've also heard that the fellow that makes the sheaths for Bark River has a line of his own as well, most sold at Knives Ship Free.

Hopefully that gives you a couple of leads that you haven't crossed off yet.

Sheaths are like holsters. They are made to fit a particular knife. Which is why a generic sheath is a hard thing to come by. I don't think that you will find one. Good luck though. Let us know if you do.

I'll give the same advice as others, look for a custom maker or make your own.

That would be an easy straight forward designed sheath you could do your self with out any "fancy tools".. Using heavy 8/9oz scrap leather pieces. Such as a repurposed weight lifting belt found at Goodwill or a couple small pieces bought from Tandy...All the knowledge you would need is here in this forum. It really doesn't take much to create a good looking, nothing fancy , utility sheath
