This got a lot of usefull info out for everyone to benefit from in a reloading board. I hope it does the same here. It is simply an "equivalent material" thread. I'll start it off and you'll catch on.

1. STP oil treatment is the best case lube for resizing cartridge cases. RCBS case lube costs a hundred times more.
2. Marvel Mystery Oil is actually air tool oil, in addition to being a great sharpening stone oil.

Mcdonalds special sauce is actually just mayo, ketchup and pickle relish;)

sorry i couldnt resist

MEK = ACCETONE ??

ALSO we use diesel fuel in our kerosene bullet heater at work.Has worked for a year without fouling the plug.Im sure im not the only one that has tried this.Im also not asking anyone to do this.

I never had any luck with STP as a sizing lube.
I thought the specail sauce was thousand island
dressing:rolleyes:

MEK (MethylEthylKetone) is related to Acetone; and, depending on one's exact usage one probably could sustitute for the other.
Acetone is Dimethylketone; and will probably have a lower boiling point and evaporate faster than MEK.

Back when I was a poor bachelor I used to not have enough money to fill my oil tank so I'd go down to the gas station and get a five gallon container of diesel. I'd go home, pour it down the fill pipe, bleed the burner and I'd have heat and hot water for the night. Worked great but was just a tad expensive not to mention a pain in the butt and inconvenient!:D

diesel oil and heating fuel are interchangeable. Heating oil is normally cheaper and has a red dye in it to show that it is exempt from road taxes. If you get caught with the red stuff in anything other than farm equipment or exempt vehicals you are in a whole heap of trouble.

There are two grades of Diesel: Diesel#1 and Diesel #2. Diesel #1 is Kerosene with the addition of a little lubricating oil. Diesel #2 is heavier than Kerosene i.e. more longer chain hydrocarbon molecules.

Diesel fuel seems to give off more fumes than kerosene in the heaters.Aside from that it does work fine. I guess it would depend on the grade you get.your luck may be different. Non taxable diesel has got all kinds of **** in it now to make it easier for the dreaded "diesel police" to catch you using it where your not supposed to.It will actually leave a residue they can test for after its been used regardless of what your running on when they stop you.
