Here is the finished prototype of the competition chopper. It is slightly different than my lastest finalized drawing but still very close. The final version will have a more curved handle and slightly wider blade throughout the entire length. This one is .270 thick CPM-M4. Man is that stuff a bear to finish :grumpy: Now I really dread finishing my 18" long double edged Tigress in CPM-M4.

Awesome...as usual. Is this one a personal, or will she be up for sale sometime soon?!

Yes please!!!!

Now thats what Im talking about. I could do some damage with that. Put me on the list for one. We will have to put together all the events they do in the chopping comp. Straw, cardboard, ping pong ball etc. Maybe Bladesports will come out West one day.

holy crap Ban... that thing is bad a$$... it came out great..
i love the nice hand filling handle scales.. i can't wait to check that out...

Don't know if she will be for sale yet. Will have to test it out and put it through the test. Need to have it around so that the boys can play with it for the next get together. I anticipate that it will destroy 2X4s ;)

Yeah I bet you will seriously take out some 2X4s with this beast. It should give my convexed FBMLE a run for the money. We should definitely try out the other cutting mediums.

Yeah the handle is very hand filling and secure. We will all have to test it out together to help me finalize the handle shape and contour.

Great work as usual Ban. Post pics or video of it going through 2x4. I think it will give the FBMLE a run for its money.

What is the handle material? Looks like the tan/black canvas on the CF BWM.

I am not quite sure of the canvas micarta color. I think it is suppose to be tan. But it has some hints of burgandy and dark brown. But the darker color distribution is very inconsistent. Odd stuff. I got this stuff from a friend. If I remember correctly I think it was either a table or shield of some sort for machinery. I personally like it quite a bit.

I will make sure to capture the comp chopper in video along with the M4 Tigress. I just spent about 2.5 hrs refinishing the M4 Tigress after HT and it is still not done. I think I will have to resort to coarser grit belts on the next go to save time.

Ban,
That is a beautiful knife. I'd like to hear how it performs. Clean and functional design.

Thanks for the kind words. I plan on posting some vids of it going through some 2X4s the next time around. BTW, I plan on welding some clamps similar to the ones you guys use for Bladesports. Do you happen to have any specs for it?

I'll PM you with what I know.

Jose...Good to see you here. We will definitely post up some videos after we test it out.

I look foreword to seeing those videos. You guys should consider traveling to WA state this spring to play with us. And when you're ready, and have some tables built, we'll (BladeSports) travel to you and get you guys set up to compete.

Sounds like fun. Will keep you posted on the videos. BTW, you probably don't remember.... I actually stopped by your table and met you at a knife show in 2008. I can't remember if it was in Eugene or Blade. I am pretty sure it was Eugene because I remember stopping by Okuden and Bill Siegle's booth as well.

Small world. It was probably Eugene. Okuden's table is right next to mine at Eugene. Hope to meet with you again.

We've had one table built for a couple years now. There is plans for another one and a set of 6 clamps once we get all the materials together. We plan on setting up a course like the ones you guys do. Bladesports seems to be exploding in popularity lately.
