Comp lock vertical play: Is this a concern?

I have a Yo 2 and PM2, both from reputable dealers and just carried a few weeks. They both have slight vertical play now. I've tried all the different screw adjustments I've read about, but nothing seems to make a difference. On the Yo 2, all the screws are tightened down all the way. Is vertical play on a compression lock even a concern in regards to lock failure? And are there any other tips out there on how to get rid of it? Thanks

It would certainly be a concern for me. Mine is rock solid with absolutely zero play. I would either exchange them with the dealer or send to Spyderco for warranty.

I don't see a comp lock failing because of vertical play. If you feel its bad enough then by all means send it to Spyderco. If not then live and let live

Have you tried rotating the stop pin until you find a spot that may eliminate the play?
How far across the tang has the Compression lock bar reached? Is it touching the opposite liner?!

I wish there were a fabricator out there in the community who could turn out some larger diameter stop pins for some of these knives! Would help give many of us with vertical play and option to tighten up some old locks...

I tried rotating the stop pin for days to no avail. Very early lockup, so it may wear in and seat itself eventually. I think I will go ahead and send it in for warranty to see what Spyderco can do about it. I don't mind a little lateral play but vertical play is a pet peeve for me.

I don't know that some play would be a concern for lock failure. But I would definitely be annoyed with it. Only one out of 7 PM2's I've handled had some vertical movement.
