Comp-Tac Standard Clip vs Spyderco G-Clip

So I am in need of an attachment option which will work well carried IWB without using a belt.

I have heard that both the G-Clip & Comp-Tac Clip will work for this, but would either of them be a better choice for this application?

Are they going to be secure enough just being clipped to the waistband without a belt when drawing a knife?

Concerning the spacing of the holes (1/2" & 1" for most kydex makers) will they both be compatible with this spacing?

Also, which would be better for using IWB with a 1 1/2" belt?

Good question. I have never used either one but I am curious on the thoughts of those who have.

I like and use the spydie g-clip! I despise tekloks... Works good for me...secure IWB with no belt...with belt it's Very secure (pita to get off without taking belt off).

Another vote for the G-Clip! No problem with IWB and no belt. Also, the spacing of the holes on the G-Clip is great, I have used them on a variety of sheathes from Buy Brown, AZ Welke, OEM ESEE & Cold Steel, I am a really big fan of the G-Clip.

I also despise tek-loks and am in search of better options, it really looks like the G-Clip is the answer to what I'm looking for.

Do you know if the G-clip is secure enough to draw a knife under medium handle retention without just pulling the sheath loose from the pants?

I have used the G-clip with a lot of success. It works well without a belt and keeps the sheath in place while drawing the knife.

No problem unless your wearing something thin and flimsy, like sweat pants or flexible board shorts. If you're wearing jeans or the like no problem, the clip is grabby and may actually frustrate you when you want to pull the sheath off.

I haven't used either of these yet. The only IWB sheaths that I've been tasked with making have used either IWB loops, or metal boot clips. The clips were very secure, with or without a belt
