I want to get a knife for my father for Father's Day and am asking if anyone knows of a site of a chart that has a bunch of pics of blade shapes (not so much grinds, but overall shape) and what they are best for.

I found one:

https://gearpatrol.com/2018/07/16/knife-blade-shapes-guide/

but was hoping for some additional info all in one place that I could email him without getting into a long winded discussion about every blade shape I can think of and their best uses. I'm sure I would leave a bunch out.

Plus just fun to discuss with him and show I care about not just getting any old knife and get him thinking about what he would make the most use of.
I'm sure seeing a comprehensive chart would go over better than me just offering my opinions.

Thanks!

I'm a drop point guy although I have a couple of clip points as well. For me, not dealing with game or fish or using my pocket knives in my kitchen at home (I have actual kitchen oriented knives for those needs), the drop point is the most useful all around blade for most needs IMO.

Extremely flawed considering they don't even depict a true sheeps foot blade with a straight edge.

Other blades have variations, but the sheeps footblade has had a straight edge for probably 200 years or more and that's not gonna change anytime soon.

If he's a gearhead, a KaBar Wrench knife might go over well.

Super versitile blade shape with a decent point, too

it would be for EDC... I have to wean him slowly off S&W knives made from "surgical steel" ;)
