I just finished this little Bowie. The blade is 5 1/2 inches and is 5160 steel. The fittings are 416 stainless I forged and hot punched. The handle is a nice block of Ironwood Burl. It's about 10 1/2 over all. One domed pin finished it off.

THAT is what I call a Vest Pocket Bowie!

Nicely executed!

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

Very nice looking and clean little knife that would be representative of the "Vest Bowie" that gentlemen of the late 1800s
would often conceal under their vest flaps for personal protection.:thumbup::thumbup:

I could see the vest making a comeback just so folks could carry nice little bowies like this. A friend that knows the knife biz very well said that the small bowie will be big in the up coming years. very nice

What a terrific knife, I'm a big fan of the Vest Pocket Bowies. The only think that could make this better for me would be a "fighter guard".

Lin,

I love it. I have a blade almost identical to this one already forged and heat treated, and this has given me a few things to think about before I finish it.

The only think that could make this better for me would be a "fighter guard".

Win, can you tell us what you meant by "fighter guard"?

Travis, here's an example of a "Fighter Guard".
