The bandsaw is the next tool inline I need to source for the shop.

I am on a budget so under $300 is a must. Essentially I just want to use it to profile blades/handles and cut down steel stock. Its mainly going to be for vertical use, if I don't have to mess around with it to much to start using it, all the better.

Here is whats in the running:

Any thoughts on these or other product suggestions?

The HF Portable has been, hands down, the best tool I've gotten in terms of doing what I'd like it to do, cheaply. Taking advice from here, I bought some Len(n?)ox blades and it works like a champ. Oh -- and buy it on sale or with the 20% coupon.
Hope it helps,
Truelove

I purchased the 10amp Dewalt Porta-Band from Toolking.com They sell them "Reconditioned" for $199!! An absolute steal along with the Swag off-road stand.

I have been using a HF 4 X 6 bandsaw for about 11 years. With good bi-metal blades these saws will do anything you need them to do. Adding a bigger table allows you more freedom. Some do require a little tinkering, but once set up correctly, the should out perform any portable saw.

The milwaukee 10.5 amp 6232-6n is awesome. I just bought that and the swagoffroad vertical stand.
