What's everyone's opinion on the Compadre series here? If you could give the "Compadre treatment" to any other Buck knife, what would it be?

Hi, nice to see you pop in once in awhile. Of the 3 items in the Compadre series, the only one I am using is the Froe. It sees duty for brush clearing and small branch removal. I prefer it to a small hand axe. Sharp out of the box and seems to hold an edge well.

Just for conversation starters, when you say "Compadre Treatment" what feature are you zeroing in on? Style? color? 5160 steel?

If you have some time on you hands, search "Compadre" on this forum, there are quite a few posts to weed thru but you may gleen some helpful opinions.

I should have been more specific. By "Compadre Treatment" I meant mainly color. I've been in love with the red powdercoat and walnut grips since I first saw them, so I can't help but think about how good something like a 110 would look with the same styling.

300, that makes me think you have to be somewhere in the Ozarks. My sister dated a guy in college who claimed to be descended from or at least associated with Pretty Boy Floyd.

I think a Compadre 110 with red powdercoat and walnut grips would look great. It would certainly be one of kind and I would buy one. I wouldn't mind one with green handles for the Christmas season too.

Just my 2 cents but I don't think a powdercoat finish on a folding knife is the way to go. Thickness & friction in the hinge, I expect would loosen up as the powdercoat wears off in that area. For historical reference, wasn't there a 560 with a black powdercoat blade? (basically a 110 with a titanium frame).

If you want to do something red in a 110, red Corelon (it's acrylic, not to be confused with Corian) handles on a brass frame but leave the blade alone.

How about the 622 Endeavor (822 Sentry with black powdercoat). There have been comments on previous threads wishing it were offered without the serrations....
....Red powdercoat 622/822 with no serrations.

I found a 104 Camp knife in an outdoor store bargain cave for $38! It was a customer return, marked damaged. It wasn't.
This knife is great. It looks cool, it fits my hand really nice and the blade length is just right. I recommend it.
