:D I made this one for a forumite -- He better use and abuse it. It's pretty much completed except for a little sanding to be done on the handle to get some excess epoxy off. It's 1/8 52100 with G-10 slabs and about 9 1/4 oal with a 3 1/2 cutting edge.

Thanks for checking it out.

I like that blade shape Michael and the angle of the plunge. Did you HT the 52100 and if so how did you HT it. It is a steel I have not yet worked or HT'd.

Good work Michael.

What part of a knife is the "plunge?" Is that the "finger guard?"

Always an education here on BladeForums.

it's where the blade grind angle (bevels) meets the Ricasso

Ricasso,, The flat parallel-sided section of the blade between the guard and the beginnings of the bevels. It is the area commonly preferred for the maker's mark.

nice Job Mike.. :)

Thanks for clearing that up for me, Dan. Like I said, always an education here.

I like that knive, Mike! That 52100 is some tough steel. Did you heat treat it yourself?

:)

Looks pretty nice to me. I wonder how it's gonna work, when I use it to pry open that old foot locker in the basement! And, that tip looks perfect to be used as a Phillips screwdriver!

Okay, maybe I'll have to test this one out myself. :D

Roger -- I heat-treated it myself with two cycles. I don't have an oven so I don't have the temps, I just go by the ol' magnet. But, I did three normalizings, 1 quench, two 400-degree temperings, 1 more edge quench, two more 400-degreee temperings.

Mike, I gotta go with these guys say, for sure. It looks like a tough knife, too. I really like your blade shape with plenty of belly for utility use.

Nice one Michael! That looks like a user but with plenty of class, no one would be shy about carrying that bad boy around. There's just something "manly" about a straight working knife. I don't know where you get the time to turn out all this work though. You must be young! :D No wife, no sleep requirement, lots of energy, still pulling all-nighters. Sheesh. Growing old is better than not, but it sucks to watch the ones who still have it all, getting all the work out!

Scared me for a minute...I thought my son was posting!

Michael....Nice, nice knife! ;)

Clean and simple, I realy like the lines on this one, look like it'd handle a chore or two.
