I need some advice on a companion for the RC4. I have been considering getting a gransfor bruks mini hatchet for some time. I have this irresistable thought that The RC 4 needs one as a companion. Before I jump up and order one is there any axe( small) that you are aware of that compares to the Gransfor bruks but is less expensive? I have a wetterlings but it is to heavy for carrying all the time.
SinceI got such good advice on the machete I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask. Thanks in advance

I just bought a gransfors bruks axe to go along with my new Ranger. I love that axe. It's sharper than any knife I have ever puchased out of the box....I'm serious.....great little axe. It's worth every penny in my book. How do you like your RC 4? Funny thing, I'm contemplating that being my next companion for the axe!

I couldn't be happier with the RC 4 . It has replaced my other knives as far as the one I reach for all the time. You won't go wrong by getting one. It's a fantastic knife

Get the Fiskars hatchet. $20 and a hell of a woods tool, it's my 'standard'. Very lightweight for what you get, easy to sharpen up, very controllable even when choking up on it. Also easy to find at Meijer, Lowes, etc.

If you're still going after that 'traditional' look, but don't want to spend the cash, try the Wetterlings hatchets. They're the next best.

Thanks for all the advice. The wife ordered me a gransforks bruks mini for my birthday. Now I have to act really surprised. LOL
