Company store are we spoiled?

I got to thinking looking at the company store. look at all the stock at the company store. I remember F5ing all night to get a GW or other knives and having HOGS hold knives for me, I remember one guy dropping one out of his basket JUST so I could get a shot at it. I just havent had to do that anymore, its been much easier to get ahold of INFI and I am not sure what to feel about it.

On the one hand it is nice to just go to the CS and buy an NMSFNO, BAD, ASH1. On the other, I made alot of good friends the old way. Gaining trust of some of the older hogs, having guys proxy for me. Plus there was ALOT less stuff coming out. The swamp may or may not have stuff, the CS was empty alot or stuff went really fast and the Yard hadnt been created yet.

Has anyone whose been around a little while felt this way? Does anyone feel as if something is gone now that was there before? I am trying not to make this a somber post by any means. I LOVE having the Site put out knives faster, in more variations and in greater quantity. I like the swamp coming out with more stuff. And I love the Yard putting out different styles of knives in that great resperine C. I feel truly spoiled having the options and the quantity that I did not before.

I really like the direction that Busse Combat is heading in the sense of the models they are coming out with and with greater variance. Alot of the new guys(I myself am by no means an old guy) probably wont understand where I am coming from. I am also not criticizing anything really, just wondering if anyone has felt this way. Like some of the fun in getting the knives has been lost? I am not sure how to put it. Or maybe I should just take another swig of whiskey, shut my trap and start focusing on Older pieces that take more time and money to acquire.

Let me know what you all think, its just been on my mind for some time.
 
Yep, those were some good times:thumbup: Heck I couldn't even snag an early GW many times, and like you said had friend's help often. At first I thought the hours of f5'ing were kinda frustrating, then it began to get fun. I loved it !
And you never had to worry about buying something you may not like...you could just move it along at cost the same week.

But I whined then(once) about Busse not making enough, so I I can't say a thing about how many there making now:p


I think when the SAR4 drops at the BCS we may get a little dose of those times again....and I may whine again if I can't score one:p

I remember when you either waited for the resale market or paid the Factory up front and waited ten months to two years to get a Busse knife.

I had an similar phone conversation cept I was the one waiting lol. Did it throug PM's once too...With PaddlinMan I believe. I too would get frustrated when I missed out, but when you SCORED my gosh it was all the sweeter. It made what you got all the more special even if it wasnt in the exact style you wanted haha.

I'm thinking in years to come, it is going to become obvious how FEW Game Wardens were produced. Skunk alluded to it earlier this week. 1 of 300 is NUTTIN compared to some GW varieties.
 
I am not an old hog. I am new pork for sure. I do remember years ago trying to figure out how to get a Busse knife. I went to the site and was like "where's the beef" and forgot all about it. Then years later I stumble on Bladeforums. Then a while later I saw a post about a FBM and it was all over from there.

I have not ordered a knife from the BCS, or from Busse directly ever yet. All from trade or from the exchange on here. I have never tried to score in a ganza yet. I just watch. I don't know when I will ever have enough $$$$$ again to try.


I will tell you that when the Sar's came out at the silly price of $165 if I remember correctly, I was just sick that I did not have the funds to pounce on a bunch of them. That would have made great bush craft, and modding fodder (not to mention a few for trading fodder).


I think we should be pushing for an Ad handled knife, with a 3 inch fusion of the GW blade and the AD blade, except for taller from edge to spine, and with a swedge, or clip point like a bowie. (at least that would be my ideal edc). I carry the GW now. I had a BAD for a bit before trading it (love the AD, but around here I pretty much have to open carry it if I want to tote it around).



Ok, tangent off, um, ya lots of available infi to be had. yea, neat.

There is much more satisfaction in the score when you have to hunt it and chase it.
Much, much less when you find it at every turn. :(
Maybe that's why I hunt for odd or rare pieces.
Don't get me wrong, I buy the new stuff to... just
much more satisfying for me, when I score a rare piece. :)

Well I can not say that I have bought many or during the times that you speak of, but I was reading what you all were doing most of the time.

I would say that it is a good thing. I would think if changes did not take place that prices would continually raise.

maybe its a good thing. I could see the lack of comradery though.

All and all, without even being "in on the action" with you all, I feel that I got to know a few of you just as a spectator.

I wouldn't say there is an over abundance of INFI. Although I sat out the last Ganza, I struck out in the two previous to that.

Ebb and flow...that's all.

SWEET! I love hunting those CS only pieces down.
 
I remember scoring a Fire Warden at the BCS once. Didn't necessarily want one, but read much about the hunt that was on for them here on this forum...

I stalked... I F5'd like mad... Days went by... Then...

BANG, 1 popped up and I snagged it!! Wound up selling it a couple months later, but the hunt was exhilarating!! That was back in the day when a Busse or Swamp Rat wouldn't last an hour on the exchange. You had to be fast ALWAYS, if you wanted something that was not the current offering...

To the larger issue -- do I feel the addiction has lost anything with the recent increase in supply? Not really. Each phase has its enjoyments.:thumbup::)

Not a problem. I have lost none of my guile and underhanded tactics. Early combats with Jaxx, Tony G, and others taught me well ...

I'll just have to fire up the auxiliary generator and bring the server farm back up to full speed.

No sweat.:)
