Comparative question but to you what would be the "Omega Speedmaster" of knives....

namely a historic icon that is still in production today...

Or what company out there has that kind of historic permanance that is still making great knives....

I notice that there are modern greats like Chris Reeve and William Henry, even Benchmade is arguably new to the game...

But I am looking for the timeless classics and who is making them.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Omega the watch? I'd google it but I get what you're getting at.

I'd say Randall.

Darrel Ralph "Madd Maxx". My favorite of all time.
Busse Battle Mistress
Older would be Randall
Buck 110
Spyderco Delica

70+ years and still going strong!

PS: Yeah I know my photos suck :D

A Randall is spot on, the correct answer.
They are both iconic, premium products and both have "been to the moon".

Not sure I would pair them up for wearing though.
A chrono is just too fussy and lacking robustness.
The correct pairing would be a 5513 on a Zulu when strapping a Randall. :D

Randall without a doubt.
Both Omega and Randall have played a part in American history.

In folders, Case maybe? They've been around for over 100 years, and are still going strong. Victorinox has been around for a good long while too. As have Boker, Puma, Queen etc. Buck has been around, but not for that long.

I think this would be correct if leveled against any chrono but the Speedy which has proven itself to be one of the most reliable chronos out there besting some non chrono movements.

Thanks all and keep them comming

Also I am primarily thinking folders for this but any companies or styles you can think of that have stood the test of time would be appreciated.

I believe you are making a distinction based on movements, but the watch as a whole is what I was referring to. One of the primary pre-requisites of “robustness” is water resistance and this is the known Achilles heel of the Speedmaster. After mine traveled to the Spa in Bienne, I don’t let it close to water. It’s more of a collector/heirloom at this point so that doesn’t bother me too much. I’m more of a Planet Ocean kinda guy anyway, though I do have a couple 5513/2254 beaters for walk about and “hard use”.

In folders, Buck 110 instantly came to mind. How old does it have to be? The 110 is amazingly good for a 50 year old design in continuous production. Victorinox is an older company but their product line has changed a lot over the decades.

I've gotta say buck 110 it's a legendary knife with a price tag that alows the average joe or working man to own it.

I would have to say Buck knives.
Hoyt Buck began making knives out of worn out files back in the early 1900s. Buck has since rose to become a major company. Good quality knives, most of them still made here in America. Their Buck 110 and Buck 119 have been bestsellers for decades. You also gotta love their Forever Warranty.

Peace Out.
