That being said, AUS6 is supposed to be reasonably similar in performance to 440A.
(normally knives marked "440" are assumed to be 440A)

edited to add: OOPS. Moved already. Now you'll get answers.
 
I agree with the above in my experience as well, AUS-4 = 420 AUS-6 = 440A, AUS-8 = 440B, AUS-10 = 440C, roughly of course, with equally well done heat treats.
