I'm interested in picking up either a 1211/1213 or BK7/9 for training purposes (hacking, slashing, etc.) and was hoping to hear specific reasons for preferences by forum members. Obviously both are strong work knives, and have subtle design/style differences ... is there something that sets them apart from each other? Or is it really a matter of "six of one, half dozen of the other"? I love the traditional look of the 1211/1213, but there's something about the Becker that really stands out. Thanks in advance.

IMHO, it is DEFINITELY NOT "six of one/half dozen of the other. In the choices you gave, the BK7 & BK9 are most certainly the stronger of bunch. Full width, extended tang & wider (from top to bottom) is the reason why. They are 'HARD USE" knives for sure. Handles can be taken off for cleaning/sanitizing if need be too. I pound the living snot out of mine with no issues. I have even choiled & jimped mine & pounded on them with no issues.

One word of warning: BK&T knives are like chips, you can't have just one ! LOL :D

Thanks TwinStick! This is exactly the info I was looking for. Much obliged.

Your welcome. Really, you just can NOT go wrong with any BK&T product. I have even batoned the little BK11/14 & the 13, with no issues.

I'm leaning toward the BK9 now ... just looking for the best price online.

We can't "deal spot" on here. But if you go to Tomars KaBars (they are a sponsor) they will hook you up.
