comparing Gel Antique and Hi-Lite Color Stain

While working on some sheaths I noticed some differences between the way Tandy's Gel Antique and Hi-Lite Color Stain color leather. I have both in Saddle Tan. Check it out:

The top piece of leather was colored with the Gel antique and the other 3 with the stain. I only did one coating of each. As you can see from the semi bad picture, they both give different results. What do you all think?

I've been using the gel-antique (picked up a few small bottle out of their clearance box), and have been very pleased with the results.

But it does darken the leather quite significantly...
