There was recently, as well as many times in the past, questions where newer guys were asking about handle thickness differences. I am an amateur at photography and I've got a long way to go. :o So to practice I tested out some pics the other day trying to figure out camera settings to go with a crude light box as there is too much snow outside to take pics. I figured while at it I could take some shots to show the range on the two most common stock thickness of fusion handles being ~.25" and ~.33" with both standard thickness and mags. If I can find my micrometer I can post the actual thickness of each. For the meantime the simple math would be standards are ~.50" per pair and magnums are ~.75" per pair on top of the blade thickness.

Handshaped on .25 (black canvas on CF) above machined magnums on .25 (Cerakote) sorry for the out of focus

add machined mags on .34 below (bruiser/satin)

add machined standards on .34 to top (snakeskin/black)

add machined standards on .25 to the very top (bruiser/black)

This shows most of Busse finishes offered except the old smooth coat, DCBB and BIG satin.

Merry Christmas! :)

Awesome man!!! Taking photos outside on grey days make for some of the best photos due to the soft diffuse light and no hot reflections.

Great work! Thanks for the great reference!

Some very nice blades there. 👍

Thank you very much for posting these photos Tim; and the thickness of the handles; very informative post for me. I'm one of the new guys wondering about how thick the handles are in various models; and also the finishes. Your photographs are not bad at all, and I appreciate the effort you put into making this post for us newbies. I have not seen snow during Christmas time in decades, maybe if you get a chance and some sun you can take pictures of those outside? If not, it's all good. Merry Christmas to you and yours man, thank you.

Thank you for the pics Tim.
And for the post.

Only thing I would add that I have observed is;

The Scales on the new Bronze CG FBM's are really a combo of Machined Magnum scales and Hand-shaped Magnums.
The Machined Magnums where the same thickness but has square corners
The hand shaped had no machine texture.

I only add this because on a kydex sheath, if you mold to a Hand shaped scale or a Machined Magnum scale it will not be 100% correct.

Again very cool pics and Thank you for sharing.

I had scored a very cool CS recurve FBM from KC. But the mag scales on top of the 0.31" blade were just too thick for my hand; it had that 'golf ball' thing going on with the center swell. IIRC, the thickness at the center was 1.1". Had to sell it.

Nice Tim... thanks. I'm always interested to see how the handles differentiate. Handles can make or break your blade usage experience.

Awesome collection of INFI btw... and your have excellent taste in mistresses ;). I must admit your pics of the black and blue LE started my addiction!

great pics, thank you for the post. I really enjoyed the pics. Nice reference material for newer people.

I'm coming back to this post everyday just to look at the pictures; these blades rule!![emoji106]🏻[emoji106]
