Well, just a bit of background. I've given and owned several different Schrades (a slew of 8OTs, and a 34OT) and have found the fit and finish on all of them to be almost tip-top. Now, I'm about to step up to a 4" Cocobolo Queen stockman...should I expect the same quality? Because I've heard a few disappointments on this forum regarding queen's knives.

My Schrades are wonderful, and even though my knives use their stainless steel, I find that it is a pleasure to sharpen and will take a very good edge. But, will I enjoy the Queens as much?

I'm a very big fan of the schrade OT knives and think they are one of the biggest bangs for the $ out there. I also like the Queens alot! I think you will find out the quality of the Queens are better than the Schrades. They are just finished a little better and a little tighter than the Schrades.

Queen is a step up from Schrade in almost every way. Their D2 is quite possibly the finest working steel I've used. In coca, that should be one heck of a user.

The only problem with Queens is the initial sharpness is a little inconsistent. On one knife, it'll be shaving sharp. On another, blunt like a butter knife. Grab some wet-dry paper or a good stone and it's not a major problem.

Well, all of my Schrades came with very obtuse edge angles (maybe something like 90 degrees?) and therefore didn't cut worth a darn. I resharpened them very easily though and at 40 degrees/1000 grit, they have a very sharp, yet still 'toothy' edge that will grab soft materials and cut very well. I have no problems reprofiling knives, in fact, I like doing it :-D
