Yup, this is another EDC suggestion thread.

I am considering adding another small folder to my EDC rotation. A basic requirement is that it must be comfortable to be carried in pocket and tip down. I've had enough open-in-pocket experiences with tip-up folders.

Delica is a time proven winner in spyderco's line. My concern with this knife is that its SS version has lower quality blade steel, and its tip strength. I used to bend a C07's tip easily and I'm not sure about delica even though it doesn't have a false edge.

I almost got a native last year before I got this titanium salsa in my pocket. I must admit that now I regret it somehow. It's strong and smooth. My only concern on this knife is that whether it's comfortable to carry.

I've only seen scorpius's pics online. Is it the same thickness as the police's handle? A concern of this knife is: from the pic on newgraham, the butt of the blade after the spyder hole pretrudes out a little and looks sharp. Is it possible to catch some cloth when drawing out of the pocket? Also, how strong is the blade (especially the tip) compared with delica?

I have a native III and find it very comfortable to carry clipped inside the pocket. There are no sharp edges or corners when closed and the wire clip is nice and smooth. It is not tip down but it hasn't been a problem for me because the lock provides positive lockup.

For the smallish, 'can be carried in the pocket or clipped to it' type EDC, the native is the current winner out of trying 10+ knives for me. It's like Charles Barkley, smooth, rounded and plays bigger than it's size.

Up to recently, the only one of the three I've liked is the Delica due to comfort. However, the Native III has recently caught my eye. It isn't tip down but seems plenty beefy.

I had wanted to buy a Scorpius but then went and handled a few and at least for now i find it uncomfortable. The protrusion at the butt end didn't seem to be too sharp or anything, just for me the overall feel of the knife didn't quite "fit". Although I still feel it's a great design. Best advice is to handle one in person first.

I have been fortunate enough to have a Scorpius that Spyderco sent for the passarounds (thanks Sal, thanks Joyce). The Scorpius is comfortable to carry, although it dose ride fairly high. The “tail” is well rounded and has not caused any hang ups.

I don’t have a Delica or a Native to compare to the Scorpius, but I am familiar with them. If memory serves, the Scorpius handles a lot like the Native.

BTW, the signup for the Scorpius/MeerKat passaround is still open, if anyone wants to try these two out.

Unfortunately, the Native never fit my hand properly. :( It is a great knife, and the manufacturing is outstanding (made in the USA, he, he) but my EDC remains the Delica. OTOH, did you consider the Calypso jr. ? For me it was the only knife that surpassed the Delica.
