Cold Steel Leatherneck SF (2011 model, Sk-5 carbon steel, Full Flat Grind)
Quick comparison, the Ka-Bar is a longtime and trusted friend, but, I do like the CS.
I'm glad someone finally made a Ka-Bar style knife with a FFG, I also like that the point is slightly more centered than the tip on the Ka-Bar.

I don't like the synthetic (hard rubber?) handle of the CS, it's about 1/8" shorter than the Ka-Bar handle, and it lacks the warmth and feel of the stacked leather handle (which on my vintage Ka-Bar has an almost tacky feel).

The balance point on the CS is a little more rearward, giving it a more handle heavy feel, but not overly so.

Cardboard cutting tests confirmed that the FFG of the CS gave it an edge over the Ka-Bar. That and the synthetic handle may make it superior for kitchen and food prep type tasks, but overall the two knives are very similar, it will certainly take some time for me to decide which is "better".

I bought the same knife as you for very similar reasons and came to the same conclusions. It's a great knife, with some clear advantages over the Kabar. I wish Kabar offered an updated thicker tang knife and offered it in FFG- who wouldnt buy that? Im really glad I got the SK5 version in the FFG.
