First of here are the specs (remember, I can make them any size you want):

Framelock Closed - 4"
Linerlock Closed - 3 5/8"

Framelock Open - 6 7/8"
Linerlock Open - 6 1/8"

Framelock Weight - 4 1/8 oz.
Linerlock Weight - 3 1/8 oz.

Internally, they have the same bronze bushing and washers, and SS pivot and stop pins.

Now a couple of photos.

Hmmmm both are very nice. Almost all my pocket knives are liner locks. I have one axis lock and one lockback. I may have to try out a frame lock someday. Why do some prefer them? Are they stronger in lock mechanism?

I believe they are stronger, but for normal use the linerlock is more then strong enough.

Hi Rocky -

I prefer them just because they are simpler - there is really no need for a scale if the frame acts as the handle and lock - it is just a more elegant, "streamilined" design in my opinion.

I don't think either are better or worse in terms of functionality - but I suppose one could make an arguement that, depending on the scale material strength, that a liner lock might be stronger as the lockbar would be prevented from bending outward under stress.

Weasle words aside, either design is sufficiently strong for intended purposes.

Thanks John. I too like them both but I'm leaning toward the framelock. I like the simplicity.

I like linerlocks better due to the scales I don't like metal-handled knives over a handle scale(unless it is textured or has grip-tape). Also, linerlocks are, on average, easier to disengage in my experience. There are some framelocks that have G10 or something on the other side, kinda like a hybrid of the two.

Does hand pressure on the framelock bar possibly add some measure of security that's absent in a liner lock?

Any Pictures floating around with a closeup of both the knives locking mechanisms?

Here is a bad photo, but you can see the difference. The framelock (left) has a .125 lock bar, and the linerlock has a .063 lockbar.

I like framelocks a bit more than liner, but I don't feel under-knifed with a liner. I don't use them for things they shouldn't be used for. No lock *should* fail on you. I treat each blade as if it were a slipjoint.

All told, I believe the linerlock is a better looking knife, and is plenty strong. I`m going to be making a larger (4 1/2") one next to put in the exchange. I think the larger size might be more popular.

Hmm...I might have to see the larger version and upgrade mine. I do think I'm going to be creating trouble with the rear spacer obstructing the blade, but I'm sure you can figure out how to make it work.
