Just wondering if anyone owns either knife or both and can compare them. I am looking to get a smaller blade and have narrowed it down to the Blackhawk Crucible folder or the CQC14.m Read stuff on the 14 but I don't know the less than 3" blade is kind of keeping me away. On the other hand the Crucible is only a .5" longer so no great difference.

Both look like they are comfortable in the hand and wondering if either one wold be better than my Hornets? Anyways all info is appreciated. keepem sharp

Yep was referring to that when I posted. Good stuff about the 14 but looking for a comparison between the two. Also looking as to who has the best prices I might add. thanks and keepem sharp

Lot of good votes for the CQC-14 so I don't know if this helps any, as I can only speak for the Crucible.

I posted my thoughts about this folder sometime back. Search 'em out if you're so inclined. I have nothing but praise for it. Though touted as "tactical/defensive" folder, knowing you around here to be an outdoorsman, this is my vote for you. Yes, for me as well, I'd go for the longer or "longish" blade which is also wide, hence a utilitarian slicer. The lock-up is also vault-tough (coming from someone who's extremely choosy with liner locks!) and the retentive and symmetrical ergos of the handle are superb, though I feel they're better on the FB version as this might be the trade-off when translating it to a folder.

Hope that helps a bit.

Well fella's I was going to spring for the Crucible on ebay. Seemed to be a very good price and the fella I have dealt with before etc. But just happened to look and this fella another dealer had CQC7a's p.e. non waved for a bit over 100 bucks. Not much over either so I got the 7. Crucible is next for sure. But the price was just to darn good for a 7 nib to pass up. He only had 6 and I snagged the last one.

Speaking of ebay I also picked up 2 forged 1095 Billy Watson Hunters with his hand sewn sheaths. Forged integral guards too. Knife I just rec. is perfect with osage scales, the other has tiger maple scales. Anways I am almost embarrassed by what I paid for them. Distal taper with very tastefull file work on the top. Anyone else familiar with his work? Well thats it, keepem sharp
